Appalachia Bare turns 5 this year, and we are celebrating!
Our magazine cannot express how honored and humbled we have been to share the past five years of this little internet niche with our audience.
We have striven to provide a venue for creative Appalachians, born here or transplanted. We have sought to provide a place where stories and histories are told, bare and unfaltering, with respect and decency. It has been our great pleasure to have met and published so many impressive and talented people. And we are grateful for each and every one of you—our submitters, subscribers, readers, perusers, and scrollers. In these five years, we have published over 425 works and quality content, and we will continue to review, refine, and reshape so we can walk an even better creative journey with you all.
We’d like to celebrate our 5th year anniversary by elevating exceptional Appalachian talent, as we have a little fun too. From time to time, we sponsor contests in particular genres. So . . . we are excited to announce our 2024
